Patricia Reser Center for the Arts will be the centerpiece for Downtown Beaverton, Oregon. Coming in at just under 45,000 square feet, it houses a 550-seat theater, gallery, event spaces, admin suite and new parking garage.
Nestled next to Beaverton Creek, a sense of place was vital to this design. A lobby and theater cladded with sticks represents the beaver dams that were once commonly found in the area. While the building is filled with various wood species, the focal points are made of Douglas Fir, one of Oregon’s finest woods and most iconic trees.
Apart from the lobby and theater, the entire building is kept a monochromatic white and grey, and purple seating adds a necessary punch in contrast to the rich, warm texture and color
of the wood.
