Maryknoll’s Kindergarten classroom will be designed to inspire students by playfully mimicing elements of the Hawaiian Islands. A light-neutral structure will provide a mature and sophisticated base inspired by the beach. In contrast fruit-inspired pops of color and textures found in nature will help stimulate learning and provide a sense of youthfulness to the space. In order to accomodate for 21st century learners, a dynamic space plan will allow for both collaboration and independent work, while also offering ease of access and use of technology.

Honolulu is the most bustling city in Hawaii. With highly contested traffic, many children are dropped off at school hours before it starts and picked up hours after it ends. For this reason, it is extremely important to design spaces that is comfortable for the children to hang out in for most of the day.
The climate in Hawaii is hot and humid, so it is vital to create interiors that are easy to cool down.
